Good Points

Excellent picture and audio.

Bad Points

Abysmal build quality, noisy and vibrates during playback.

General Comments

This player's picture and audio qualities are up there with the best; playback of audios CDs is particularly impressive but, and I'm afraid it's a very big but, the unit itself is so noisy during playback I can actually hear it above the speaker system. With some DVDs the whole unit actually vibrates!

I also have problems with the disc tray jamming open.

The major selling point for me was the machine's JPEG image playback facility which, incidentally, is very good but a DVD player's main job after all is to play DVDs and if it can't do that efficiently all the extra features in the world won't compensate.

Only had it a few weeks but it's going back to RS and being replaced with the Toshiba 520.

Overall, it has been a huge disappointment.

I am impressed with the silent nature of the 9900SE. It does make noise when loading discs, but during normal playback it is very quiet. Maybe yours is duff?
(disc noise was a specific bugbear of mine with my previous player, and LG2330).
