Good Points

The hotel was clean.
The food was plentiful, and there was lots of choice.

Bad Points

Not enough room around the pools. The sunbeds were crammed in, and most taken up with towels by 9am.
Food was bland but plentiful.

General Comments

I booked directly with the Barcelo Las Margaritas hotel in Playa Del Ingles, at a great rate, and booked a transfer with resorthoppa.com. This is the best way to travel, as it was very quick and reasonably priced for one person. The hotel staff were sometimes lacking enthusiasm for their jobs, but luckily I didn't need to trouble them too often. The room was on the 6th floor with a seaview, but on the main road it is not a very pretty view, but you are in PDI!

If you have booked B&B, HB or all inclusive you will have more than enough to eat at each sitting. I found dinner a very bland affair, but you will always find something you (half) like.

I didn't really enjoy the resort of PDI, and would travel by cab (€3-4) to Meloneras/Maspalomas for a more upmarket and less tacky resort. I read a review about the Grand Italia (cc Oasis) so thought I'd go and pay a visit, seeing as it had such wonderful reviews. I was not unhappy at all. You can tell a great restaurant, when staff are running around, the tables are full constantly, and it takes you 20 minutes for a table. I am no expert, but I love Italian food, and this was the best pasta I've ever had. High praise indeed, and worthy of it.

If you are looking for a base, Barcelo Margaritas is good enough, but next time I'll base myself a little up the road.
