Good Points

Gave full refund when threatened with Small Claims Court action and complaint to OFT.


Bad Points

Second rate furniture. Unhelpful telephone staff. Very hard work to get a refund.


General Comments

At the end of September 2005, the Haddon House Furniture delivery crew assured me damage on sofas would "push out" after a couple of days. 10 days later I emailed HHF with photos, and 4 days later (when I rang them), I was told replacements had been ordered and a delivery date would be available by the end of the month.

At the end of October I was told there had been a further delay in the supply chain, and a delivery date would be available by the mid November.

During 5 subsequent phone calls I was told the matter was in the hands of the logistics team, and that I'd be rung with a delivery date either within 24 hours or by the end of that week. At no point did anyone try to contact me.

Mid December I demanded a refund.

Mid January, sofas were collected, and I was told it would take 4 - 5 weeks for me to receive a cheque for the full refund (OFT later told me this was unreasonable, and an immediate refund should have been paid).

3 phone calls at end of February/beginning of March, I was told the refund cheque was ready but awaiting a signature from a very busy finance manager who didn't have an in-tray(?!?)
Requests to speak to more senior staff, who may be able to deal with my demands, were refused.

One month later on, I got my refund after an OFF complaint and threat of Small Claims Court action.
