Great reputation and well earned for Beeman R9 series that has a starting price of $275-$325 you pay for the base model R-9 series. The R-9 has a nicely made wood stock, superbe bluing, metal work and rekord trigger and its very accurate after break in. Mounds of tunes and modification that make it a near custom and more competitive. Its strong suit is as a hunter/pest controller, informal target/plinker and field target. It also holds its value like a BMW.
Bad Points
Price $325 base $425 for the gold finger for starting AR. Some don't like fat forearm part of the stock, at the starting price it really shines after a $175 tune. Rekord trigger can be delicate and hard to self tune. Recoils hard enough to shake lose the stock screws. Surprisingly the trigger screws stay in place. gripes about the trigger distance from the pistol grip.
General Comments
Great reputation and well earned. The Beeman R9 holds the title of being the standard for serious starter air rilfe, its arguable that BSA, RWS and Webely may makes a better rifle. But not going by sells here in the USA or AR vetrans on the forums giving advice.
Its the most recommended and copied air rifle from serious users or AR makers given to future adult air riflemen. Unless you live in the UK.
Its hard to argue that R-9series has not earned this reputation.
Most say that the $275-$325 that you pay for a base model R series is well spent money for years of happy shooting. With its (IMO) nicely made wood stock with various levels of factory upgrades, superbe bluing, metal work and rekord trigger, its given a good starting edge over its competition to assure accuracy.
After shooting a stock R-9 I felt its a well made AR designed, engineered for precision and accuracy. After getting use to the trigger (its so precise) the guns very accurate. But of course 1 of the keys is that they mount good stuff on these rifles the scope and mount probably = $ of the stock gun. So 1 hole 3-5 shot groups are easy with this combo at 10-25 yrds easily busting 4" clays out 80 yards. Shooting a tuned R-9 after the stock R-9 is a worlds of difference and you see why most request that this be done even if now you own a $500+ air rifle. More precison on top of precision and settle action, less felt recoil and more fps or just sure accuarcy and less fps pending desired the tune.
The only real sobering note finance wise is that the Beeman R-1 starts at $500+. The Beeman R9 is a steal then and more then a starting air rifle its an investment in a company and its product. After you swallow the pill you will feel better later. 1 holers and bragging rights.

on 25th Apr 2006What I meant was buy their products, we are aware that Beeman does not make these guns but is a distrubitor of a upgraded version of these fine air arms and other products. But it does mean something to carry the BEEMAN name, Upgrades to the fine German quailty. The UK makes fine air arm products, I've experience the TomaHawk a premimum springer along with many others from BSA and AA. I hope that explains it, thanks for your comment. Isn't Daisy a US Air arms high volume seller. Their 10m comp rifles are awesome.

I understand you would want to support the company, but what do you mean when you talk about its product? The gun is a German made Weihrauch. Here in UK we are down to one high volume manufacturer. Is there any high volume airgun manufacturing in the US now?
