Good Points

Great Coffee! Heats up in an instant, twin boilers for instant steam, looks the business.


Bad Points

Considerable amount of plastic parts meaning suspect durability, very expensive.


General Comments

Gaggia Titanium a great looking machine that produces fine expressos and cappucino coffee, with a on board water tank and grinder. After looking around I settled for this Gaggia model it's the top of the range auto machine. I read some negative reviews on the web about leaks but decided to take the risk.

Initial impressions were mixed, the coffees tasted superb easily as good as Costa & Starbucks after a little practice, but although the outer casing is stainless steel most of the inner workings, brew unit etc are plastic, not really what you'd expect from a 'top of the range' machine. Also the level detector in the water tank was detatched and would not fit, Gaggia UK advised me to 'file it down' to make it fit !! What?

After two weeks I became even more disappointed as a small spindle inside needed glueing maybe I was a liitle heavy handed tightening it but still disappointing all the same.

Two days later the machine developed a severe leak (unrelated to the other issue) I again rang Gaggia UK and finally got through to their suspiciously busy support/repair dept. Even though I'd imported the unit from Italy they confirmed they'd collect it and remedy the standard leak fault that had developed with an uprated steam pipe that was now available.

Two weeks without my machine drinking instant coffee was not good, but now its back and it good working order.

Would I buy another? probably not! do I like it? Yes wouldn't want to be without it. Is it good value? No overpriced. Does it make good coffee? Yes absolutely superb.
