The Lovely Bones is an interesting book about a girl coming of age even though she is dead. Susie (the narrator) states on the first page of the book "I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973." As she watches her family and friends from her heaven she learns the true meanings of relationships and trust. The book was written very well in the first two-thirds of it. Yet, towards the end of the book, Sebold starts writing superficial and fantasy events. This makes the realism of the book start to fade. Other than that the beginning of the book makes up for it.
