Myrrho2's Review of Terry Pratchett, The Colour of Magic (A Discworld Novel)
8th Apr 2006
Overall Rating
- Value for money

Storyline, characters and metaphors-yes, just the way I like it...those impossible metaphors like round square etc.
You've probably never read something like this. And it's completely cliche-free!
Bad Points
It's all in someone's taste...you have to read it to know. There are no negative things about it-I totally dig his style. But...do you? Anyhow-read it.
General Comments
Terry Pratchett, The Colour of Magic (A Discworld Novel - Terry Pratchett's really mad (in a good sense) to make a book like this. Anyways, I appreciate him very much as a writer. He cast a spell on me with this book-as it's the first of his books that I've read. It takes a lot of imagination to write this; don't be surprised if you meet some crazy and unlogical things such as the walking chest...got quite a laugh there... Pratchett's book's main function is humour, or at least that's the way I see it.He expresses the world in it full disgusting form-giving it a few modifications. Cities (Ankh-Morporc) are caricaturized, but all for a greater good. The storyline's completely unpredictable and humorous as you follow pretty wierd and witty characters on their journey: anything-but-not-handy-wizard Rincewind and naive tourist, dragons who egzist only if you believe in them...what else do you need? Just grab the book and start reading. But be cautious..it's HIGHLY addictive.
