Good Points

Cheap
Simple to operate


Bad Points

Very unreliable
Have to try to put discs in several times for them to play
Some discs will not play back after recording onto them
Recording quality not very good in the LP modes

General Comments

The LiteOn LVW-5005 DVD recorder is cheap and it looks good. The features are limited, but I bought it as it was a cheap DVD recorder, not because it is full of features.

At first things worked OK, as long as I didn't use cheap DVD's to record onto. However, after just a few months it frequently refused to play discs (even commercial ones) first time, and I had to open and close the drawer, and switch it on and off several times.

Now I am not happy to record onto DVD's, as they often will not play back, even with the better quality ones.

I have upgraded to the latest firmware, which is supposed to increase the compatibility and reliability, but it doesn't.
