General Comments

I've been having problems with therear anti-lock brakes in my 2002 Jeep 2002 Liberty Sport. The front wheels lock up causing the rear end to fishtail. This is particularly noticeable on loose gravel. It only happens when the vehicle is in rear wheel drive. When it is in four-wheel drive the ABS is disabled. I found that when I explained the problem to a couple Chrysler dealers in Edmonton Alberta I got no help. One dealer suggested the pads and shoes were worn the other suggested new tires. I am assuming there is a "SMART" tire on the market that can tell when the vehicle is in two or four wheel drive to make since out of the latter suggestion. Now that warranty is up on the vehicle I'm sure they will find the problem. I had an independent mechanic check the brakes out. He agreed there was a problem but he couldn't figure out how to disable the ABS without shifting to four-wheel drive.
