General Comments
I don't know why I have stayed with the Royal Bank of Scotland for so long.
I have been a customer for at least 5 years, but this seems to count for nothing whenever I seek help from them financially.
I phoned to make an appointment to visit the branch and discuss my account.
I was told I didn't need to bother, the women reviewed my account while I was on the phone and told me they couldn't assist with anything.
Very much "computer says no" experiences with them.

I have had the RBS interest paying current account for a few months.
I had the account for 1 month and had to leave my employment that was paying my wages into this account, due to ill health.
Incidently I ended up with charges for unpaid dds which in turn put me over my overdraft limit, usual story.
In thinking that I wasn't going to get anywhere with them, I delayed contacting the bank until about a month later when it was all getting out of hand.
I spoke to a financial manager as the branch couldn't deal with this amount of charges (over £150!), who was very helpful & he spoke to my partner also who had some (not alot) of money coming in. The man was very helpful and refunded all but 2 charges, which was good of them. I then got a statement in saying there was going to be a further charge for ending up over my overdraft limit?? by this time my partner had already paid in £30 to my account to put it back into line, but this further £28 charge would have put me back overdrawn! By this time I had been employed again but wasn't going to get paid until the following month as the deadline had been missed when I started for payroll to complete the bacs payments etc. I called the branch again and explained the situation, they then told me they were going to suspend all charges as they were aware of my situation.
If it hadn't been for this it would have snowballed out of control and by the time my wages (it was only small amounts as could only work parttime) wouldn't have allowed me to eat etc.
So I have had a very good experience with RBS (so far), but I guess time will tell if anything was to happen in the future.
I do think these bank charges are ridiculous amounts though, I mean it's stealing from the poor and giving to the fat cats....
Daylight robbery.
The worst bank in my experience has been Halifax/BOS (I infact used to work with them, but left because their polices stank and I hate big corporations!), who charge even higher amounts, and do not give refunds under any circumstance.. ....
They are just awful....
