General Comments

I ordered theSamsung LE40R51B tv, as a replacement for my 32 inch crt tv. Boy what an upgrade. I was a little worried that the picture quality would suffer as the screen got larger, but I shouldn't have.

Set up was simple, but it took me a while as I was completely rewiring my set up of Cable, DVD decoder, and DVD/HDD recorder, and upgrading the cables and connections used. Plus point number one - two RGB inputs, one via Componant RCA leads, and one by SCART, plus another regular SCART. There is also S video, and Composite inputs for Camcorders etc. Nice to see a PC VGA input too. Not sure I'll use it though. Sound output through digital and fibre optic. (not sure how to use this and will add more here when I have it).

Turned it on and let it go through the plug and play proceedure, which found each channel, and placed it into the right channel number, which is something not all tvs do.

Picture quality through RGB componant is superb, with blacks looking really good. I used the Matrix Reloaded as a guide, and found no evidence of the so called shadowing effect in the fast paced action scenes, that magazines sometimes talk about.

Sound is initially quiet, but that's because the factory settings are quite low. It does give a natural sound effect, and there are several 'modes' but to be honest, the defaults are fine. The same is true for the defaults of the picture warmth etc.

My only thing is this. If you buy a £1400 TV set, the remote should look like it matches it, and not a £150 regular TV.

Apart from that BUY ONE.
