Fun to shoot!
Factory trigger
I bought synthetic/blued Ruger 10/22 carbine as my first rimfire rifle and have been using it about a month now - mainly for rabbit shooting and plinking. It came as a package, threaded for a suppressor and with a 4x32 scope for NZ$499 - only a little more than my air rifle cost! This is more expensive than in the US, but not too bad at all.
It is still standard except for the addition of a Parker-Hale style suppressor. The rifle has proved totally reliable, has good hunting accuracy (1/2 inch groups at 30 yards), cycles properly with subsonic ammunition, is extremely simple to break down for cleaning etc and is a whole bunch of fun to shoot.
I have no major negative points, except the usual ones - factory trigger pull is heavier than the rifle (honestly!) and the minor gripes of fiddly magazine release and bolt lock.
I have heard that the magazines can give you grief if you don't keep them clean, however mine has not given me any problems so far.
I would reccommend this rifle for anyone wanting a general purpose .22 LR rifle (pretty much exactly the advice I was given). 10/22s do take a bit of customising to get to that 'tack driver' stage but that's the joy of owning one of these rifles, and mine performs just fine right out of the box.
