General Comments

KWC- Uzi - SMG (Co2) - Export Version

Having read the previous review of this gun by Stan, I was intrigued, curious and excited, so much so I decided I just had to have one.

First off I would like to thank Stan (the previous reviewer) for his help and suggestions on where to purchase this gun.

As the previous review covered the majority of the points regarding the gun, this review will concentrate mainly on the updates and modifications since then, including a number of personal observations.

First Impressions -

The gun is well presented being supplied with its own black case, specific to this weapon and has the official "IMI-UZI" name and emblem embossed on the outside of the top cover.

The inside of the top cover consists of a see through compartment where the instruction manual and tools are located and on the right side are five moulded compartments for storage of Co2 canisters.

Open the case and there it is a rather small and unassuming looking gun, which at first sight surprised me, until I remembered, it is marketed as a mini-Uzi.

Pick it up however and you soon realise that this gun means business. KWC claim a weight of 3.2KG, which judging from how it feels with the magazine inserted, it is quite credible.

The overall finish of the gun is very high, consisting of a mix of steel and plastic parts.

Steel parts appear to be concentrated on the internal working mechanisms of the gun including the barrel, inner casing, hammer and (sliding bolt) cylinder base.

Externally the upper frame/cocking handle, muzzle, hop-up adjuster, forward sight, butt, minor pins and screws being the visible steel parts.

Plastic parts form the outer shell, which consists of the main frame, under frame, hand guards, grips, trigger and guard.

All parts, steel and plastic are well made and finished.

Operation -

Load up the magazine and insert a Co2 canister using the tools supplied, cock the gun, set on auto and you are ready for a whole new experience.

Gently pull the trigger back and let this gun rip ..Believe me it does, BB's fly out at an astonishing rate accompanied by a cracking sound as the Co2 is released through the barrel, at the same time the steel sliding bolt cycles back and forth opening and closing the fully visible extractor port emitting a very loud metallic clattering sound.

So strong is the blowback effect that I had to lean forward and aim low to hit my target.

This has got to be the closest thing to firing a real "Uzi", it's just missing the empty shell casings flying out of the extractor port to complete the effect.

Updates and Modifications -

The gun I have, is sold, as the "Export Version" which has all the necessary modifications required to tune the gun for more economical use of Co2, while maintaining the same high rate of fire.

I can unload a full magazine (39 rounds) on full auto, with a little to spare using one Co2 canister, a great improvement on the earlier version of the gun.

Personal Observations -

The original version of this gun was a good attempt from KWC, as it appears a lot of effort and work went into the design, manufacture and reproduction of the original Uzi.

KWC have made great improvements with the Export Version by increasing Co2 efficiency, however it is a shame they have not gone all the way by replacing the remaining plastic external parts with steel.

Even in its current form the gun represents a superb airsoft replica of the Uzi, I am very please the only markings on the gun are those of IMI and the following comment is stamped on the top of the steel cocking handle

" ALTERATIONS TO THIS FIREARM ARE UNSAFE AND ILLEGAL "
" READ OWNERS MANUAL BEFORE OPERATING "

Nowhere on the gun or the case feature KWC, Made in Taiwan, or any other markings of this type.

Conclusion-

Undoubtedly the best airsoft gun I own, for realism, feel and enjoyment.
None of my AEG's or other Gas guns come close.

It is unfortunately too hot for use at my local London airsoft venue, so I wont be able to use it for gameplay and will be reserved for plinking and target practice.

Like the gun so much, I'm thinking of buying another.

Recommendations-Buy one before they get banned.

Incase you went and ahead and bought the non-export version (like me), Redwolf say that soon (under the 'parts' section) they will be stocking a replacement piston head :)

Useful review, I got mine (export version) from airsoft scotland got it next day delivery. At first it appeared very big but got used to the size and now it doesn't feel so big. Very accurate most likely due to the power.

I have just purchased one of these but the instructions are in Chinese. Has any one got the English version they could scan and send me. Thanks

Can anyone tell me how to convert the semi auto version to full auto? I could also do with a scanned copy of the instruction manual as I have not got an English version.
