Good Points

Price - I paid $124 including shipping
Power - Depending on pellet weight, this rifle produces 700-760fps with most pellets I've chrono'd.
Accuracy - With open sights, using Crosman wadcutters I can shoot sub 1/2" groups from a casual rested position at 20yds.
Open sights - The open sights are well made and have very fine fiber optic elements
Quality for price - for what I paid, the quality is good.
Trigger Pull- is a decent 4-5 lbs from the factory

Bad Points

UGLY rubbery plastic gold Beeman Medallion embedded in stock. Hideously ugly
High cocking effort - You need an extra surge of power to get the barrel to lock open for loading.
Somewhat harsh to fire.

General Comments

I bought this Beeman GS950 .22 rifle because it was on closeout from a mail order outdoor store for $118.00. I wanted a Magnum .22 break barrel rifle, and the price was very right. It's a Beeman branded rifle, but it's not a German Beeman. This rifle is made in Spain by Norica and imported by Beeman. It is approximately on the same quality level as a Gamo. It has nice metal fit and finish and decent reddish stained wood. It shoots very well but without modifications, it's pretty harsh firing and "twangy". I took it apart and moly lubed the piston and used "heavy tar" on the spring and that greatly reduced twang. The open sights on this rifle are FANTASTIC. They are fine and don't block much of the target -- even out to 50 yds. I'm very pleased with the rifle -- at the price I paid. If however, I were buying a magnum-class .22 break barrel in the $200 range, I would choose an RWS Diana Model 34 instead of this rifle. The 34 is much more refined with nicer wood, metal, and firing characteristics. At $124, the GS950 is a great deal. At $200 or more, I would not buy it.

All of the Beeman rifles are imported unless the rifle has an "R" in the name such as R1.

    Hideously ugly.

If you live in the US, then all Beeman guns are imported.
R-series are built by Weihrauch in Germany.
GH and GS series by Norica in Spain.
SS series by a factory in China.
The Patriot has been built by Webley in Great Britain, but with Webley's recent troubles, it's rumored to be built in Turkey in the future.
