Quality rifle, accurate, looks great, handles well despite weight
At 9.2lbs, it may be a tad heavy, but balances well
I have the HW97LK, blue laminate stock version in .22. The 97k/lk is an underlever spring piston gun.
Upon opening the box, I was stunned at the looks of this rifle. The blue laminate stock is simply amazing. The blueing and finish of the gun is first rate.
Cocking effort is minimal for the 690fps this gun delivers using 16gr pellets.
The Rekord trigger is a joy to shoot with and breaks cleanly with no creep.
My rifle is still in the break in period but accuracy out to 30 yards is top notch. I can get one ragged hole groups with a variety of pellets although I was shocked to find that the standby JSB Exacts did not perform as well as the others in my gun.
I have mine fitted with a Bushnell Banner 4x12x40 scope and it complements it well. Recoil is minimal given the smooth firing nature and heft of this gun.
Another plus was that the weight balanced very nicely and made offhand shooting fairly easy.
In .177 caliber, you have an out of the box FT contender while in .20 or .22, a reliable and beautiful hunter that will hit whatever its aimed at so long as the shooter does their job.
