Good Points

Sexy and brilliant design
iMode
Blue light-up buttons
Camera
Polyphonic tones
Java
Clicks like an iPod
Voice recorder
Handsfree
Colour screen

As you can see I'm milking the good points because once you get past the design the phone seems rather shallow.

Value for money


Bad Points

Screen crashes a lot
Camera is pants
Memory is poor
On the box it say it takes videos, when it clearly doesn't
Annoying alerts every 30 minutes about the latest deals, and saying I have low credit
The ringtones are awful! There are only 13, and they're techno trance tunes or a Russian tune. There is not even a simple ring
Takes you ages to work out everything it can do
iMode is rubbish! Don't be lured in by this - it's a rubbish feature
The texting function is extremely annoying
Battery is excellent if you don't use it
Not loud enough
Backgrounds are simple. The screen is OK, but it is slightly pixelated

This seems like a copy of an iPod Nano. It also seems like they rushed this phone to look trendy, when they could have included a few better features; it would then have had the potential to be a top class phone.


General Comments

The NEC 434i is a great mobile phone, but some of the features are dreadful! I would recommend it for the price, but if I had the money I would be buying a new phone.
