Bad Points

General Comments

The Crosman 2210 SB is an excellent air pistol. It shoots .22 cal pellets, which is something rare for pistols. It also holds the most (7) .22 pellets in its category; the only other brand sold here holds 6. There are few things that you can do to customize this pistol. I have painted it with a black enamel because the "attractive silver" finish is not very attractive at all. I have also rubberized the grips, mounted a laser sight to the bottom rail with a mini mag light (light will fit perfectly between laser scope gap and barrel), and added the Crosman 4x32mm scope on the top rail. To mount the scope you will have to remove 2 of the three fiber optic attachments and remove some additional material from the rails and frame. With the sighting system I have found that it is extremely accurate due to the long rifled barrel.
CO2 usage is also pretty good. The first 25-30 shots are highly accurate and are capable of going right through glass bottles and small rodents (chipmunks, squirrels) with pointed pellets. After 30 the accuracy and power starts to gradually go down, at around 70 the gun will jam. The gun will also fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. Overall it's a pretty good buy and would suggest it to anyone looking for a hard-hitting air pistol.

I thought your site was very helpful. I have been thinking about buying the 2210SB .22 cal. air pistol for a squirrel problem. You answered all my questions. Thanks

    Hi Luke,

You say it's a bit plasticy. But how much? Is it practically all plastic or it it just the frame?

    Gamo plastic or Toy plastic?

    Thanx

  • Luke Goegan on 9th Nov 2003

Hi Moley , Sorry for the late reply to your question. The plastic that Crosman uses for their airguns can definitely be considered a "toy" plastic. You can easily carve away parts of the pistol to allow for modifications, if I were to give it a rating out of ten with ten being the most durable, the plastic would get a 6. I have had many Crosman rifles and pistols over the years and have never had an experience with the plastic cracking or breaking. The only time the plastic failed was when I over-tightened a screw and it stripped the plastic threads.

Thanks for a most helpful review of the Crosman 2210 co2 gun. Where I live (Southern California) we have a serious coyote problem -- two tried to attack my dogs as I was walking them -- and what I am looking for is a deterrent that will at least wound and scare the coyotes off without necessarily killing them (although if they do not run away that might be necessary). The local police department suggested using a pellet gun (since firearms discharge in the city is a criminal offense) and this seems to be the ticket. The price is reasonable and the fact that it is plastic seems to be ok since the usage will (hopefully) not be very heavy.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks.

Yeah. nice review. Do you think its better for me to get this gun or the daisy 622x for personal protection?

    Luke,

You mentioned that you changed the 2210SB grip to rubber. Where did you get the grip? What grip fits to this pistol?

To the guy wondering whether or not to use this gun for defence purposes: this is a good gun WHEN IT ACTUALLY FIRES. I'm not trying to be negative here, but I actually carried this gun for self defence once. I loaded it properly, and squeezed the co2 cylinder in so tight, my thumbs started to hurt .I took it, carried it, and when I got home, I put it away. I didn't want to mess up the seals, so I went out, took off the safety, aimed it and pulled the trigger. Guess what happened? it went click, click, click. so I went to my room unloaded the co2 cylinder and there, on top of the cylinder neck where it's supposed to be punctured and release the co2, I found a little tiny, deep dent .it should not take that kind of incredible force to squeeze a co2 cylinder in and I squeezed it, hard. also, I could when the thing actually got punctured, actually hear the co2 leaking out, going "pssssssss...".the gun will also jam rounds and make it incredibly difficult to get them out. if you want to get into a defence situation, like I would have and point your gun at an assailant and have the gun go click, click, click, then go ahead, but I seriously DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. Get something else.

I have my 2210SB for a year now and fired at least approx. 1000 rounds and encountered no problem. The trigger needs work. I am in the process of modifying the trigger spring to make it more sensitive. I mounted a $6.93 rifle scope from Walmart and fits perfectly without modification. I haven't had any leaks or jamming. My next step is to increase the hole diameter of the chamber to increase the fps. This might work well for your deterrent/self-defence purpose. For the price of this gun, I recommend this model. It's hard to find a .22 cal CO2 7-loader pistol with this much power. If you're planning to change the grip, I think the nearest to this is a Smith & Wesson (Hogue rubber) 5900 series (e.g. 4006TSW, 410, 403TSW, 4563TSW).
