poxyroxy666's Review of Ferret

Everything about them is great, but I especially like the way that they...
Don't smell if you clean them out regularly. I clean mine every day which is easy as they toilet in a cat litter tray.
Are a fantastic alternative to a cat, as they will sit on your lap, but at the same time they have less disdain for the human race and actually like people.
It is myth that they bite. They can be trained within a week of getting them, and by simply saying no and putting them back in their cage for a 5 minute time out. It is NEVER necessary to flick them on the nose.
My ferrets live in a large hutch in my bedroom, though they are only locked in at night (to prevent me rolling over and squashing them), and when I am at work - to prevent them digging in my house plants and creating other mischief.
They are the perfect pets for anybody with a busy lifestyle. They only need to be let out and cuddled for 1 hours a day. During this time they run about like nutters for 30 minutes, and then curl up and sleep on you; which brings me to my last point...
Ferrets are hilarious, and far better entertainment than television. While I have been writing this my little darlings have been zooming around at top speed, sliding all over the wooden floors and playing with each other. They have then taken to climbing up on to the bed and jumping off it in an attempt to reach my lap - totally missing each time and ending up on the floor, they then get up, shake themselves and do it again! And again...
Bad Points
It is necessary to ferret-proof your house. Never again will a cup of tea be left on a low coffee table. House plants will not be left in there pots. Your washing will be removed from your laundry basket and nested in (they like to be round your smell as it makes them feel safe), and your clean laundry will be removed from the clothes horse on which it was drying, and killed!

on 13th Mar 2006They can live up to 8 years old but after the age of 2 they begin to slow down a bit- much like cats, though they still have their mad moments.
