Was the plastic trigger guard really that much of a money saver for Diana? A rifle of this price should not skimp.

General Comments

I've had the RWS Model 54 in .22 for about a year now. Accuracy came quickly to me partly because this was not my first springer, but mainly due to the recoiless system imo. Like many others have stated, this rifle spits out JSB exacts 5.52 like lasers in terms of accuracy, compared to other magnum rifles at least.

Power did not disappoint. I'm not a hunter so I only do casual plinking of metal targets, but this thing really packs a wallop. At 30 yards I can get 3/4 groups while my friend manages 1/2 inch groups (which he can't manage with his Patriot) with enough power to EASILY take out cat sized animals. Several of my metal targets have dents in them.

Weight is what is to be expected from a rifle like this so I'm not including that in my negative comments. Same goes for cocking force. If you're looking for a powerful rifle in the $500 dollar range, this is a good bet. You'll find other rifles with similar power but they aren't as well behaved. My friend's Patriot comes to mind.. it has more power than the 54 but it's so jerky when you shoot it that you may as well be using a "real" rifle with none of the accuracy benefits.

It's a great rifle for what it was designed. If you're looking for a rifle to carry around for any distance that you can shoot several rounds through without developing an overly developed right arm, go for something a bit smaller, otherwise, the 54 is a good bet.
