Good Points

It is fairly priced. The lens is a sleeper in the Nikon line. Good sharpness and portability. Very little distortion in real life.

Bad Points

Build quality is not as good as it should be. The filter ring is plastic and is prone to splitting (mine did). The lens hood is next to impossible to use with filters. Some slight vignetting with regular polarizers (not thin ones).

General Comments

This is a good lens. The optics are really good but my experiences with the build quality leaves me having to rate the lens lower. I was carrying mine and the camera swung around on the strap when I was turning and the front edge of the filter struck a counter top. Not a great blow at all but the filter ring split and I had to do a self help repair with thin layers of plastic glue. It will hold a filter now (barely) and the lens hood seems to keep all in place but the hood seems to always pop off. I am ambivalent about this lens---great pictures but not sturdy at all.
