Good Points

Great looking car, practical size back seats and a nice sized boot, the sports version also gives you the sporty seats (that are really comfortable), lower suspension, nicer set of alloys and a meaner looking body kit

Lovely smooth ride, good suspension and handling. Aesthetics are wonderful and the interior is exactly what you would expect from a jaguar.

As optional extras look out for the SatNav system and other integrated add ons. It is by far the best I have ever used. The voice is clear but can easily be turned off. Screen is large enough plus is fully touch screen. This screen also allows for fully voice active and touch screen mobile phone, voice/touch control of climate control, stereo, CD etc

Bad Points

I have had my 2.5 sport for about a year & half; the only points I have are very small and niggly ones for me personally but others may not have the same issues: Service bills are top end of market but I guess that's to be expected. When it came to servicing I booked it in with my local Jaguar dealer but this proved very expensive so shop around, they charge per item not per hour (well thats what i was told) For example, it was about £19 ex VAT for replacing a front headlamp bulb, now that all adds up on a service.

Inside the car: Driving blind spot

General Comments

I got the Jaguar X Type when I was 25 against the views of a few individuals as they said it was for the older person, it's not. I came from a BMW M5 and I drive about 80 miles daily it's now done 56k and it's the daddy. It looks nicer than a 3 series drives better than an Audi. I don't know what I love about it so much but it has never let me down, and every time I clean it a grin comes over my face. If you want to drive it fast you can but equally it is smooth enough to run in low gears and it does gain respect.
The sports pack does add that little bit more of a sporty drive and feel to it and the engine sounds like the beast it is. If you get the chance try one out it really will surprise you, the extras that came with mine like the heated seats (that are both electric) the fully voice activated centre unit blows me away and make the whole experience 'executive'.
