General Comments

My wife and I have just returned from our 6th visit to Giravaru and I'm pleased to report that it still ticks all the boxes for us. Although the island is very small and the resort is showing its age in places, it is extremely well managed and offers excellent value for money.
The beaches are very good, the snorkelling is excellent, and the facilities are reasonable for such a small resort. The rooms are all beachfront and are well equipped with full bathrooms, air conditioning, tv, telephone and hairdryer. Housekeeping is absolutely first rate and on the odd occasion that we have had a problem with the plumbing or air conditioning, resolution has been prompt and effective.
We have always found the staff very friendly and helpful; they really do want to please.
The close proximity to the Airport with just a 20 minute speedboat transfer is really appreciated after a long overnight flight from the UK. Sea plane transfers may sound like a sight seeing bonus, but believe me after a long overnight flight, messing around with a sea plane transfer to a more distant island is just a bind. We've done it.
We always used to arrange our visits through a tour operator, but none of the UK operators have offered this resort for the last couple of years. Consequently we contacted the resort by email and made arrangements with them directly. The resort provided the transfer from the Airport and we booked our Emirates flights through Expedia. It was all very straight forward and surprisingly it worked out even cheaper than the package prices that we paid in earlier years for exactly the same holiday.
Yes we have tried other resorts in the Maldives, and we also like to visit the Caribbean at least once a year, but so far, Giravaru has never failed to please.
