General Comments

Overall, the Motorola C975 is a good cheap mobile phone which can play MP3's, videos, and it is a 3G phone (I know the 3 network sucks, but just get it unlocked to any network)

I recommend this phone to people with a limited budget.

You will find that the battery life significantly improves when care is taken with charging and discharging the battery. Condition the battery properly (allow for a full discharge before recharging the unit), and you should find the supplied cell is as effective as other manufacturers. I would not suggest attempting to unlock phones which have been locked to the "3" network as many have safeguards in place which will render the phone inoperable if attempts are made to alter network pairing. 3rd generation sim-cards are also incompatible with conventional GSM handsets, and vice-versa so unlocking would be a waste of time anyway. Stick with the supplied SIM, it costs a lot to call into 3 (ie if someone is calling you), but calling out certainly has rates which are comparable to other mobile networks.

charging/discharging dosn't make any difference the talk time and standby time is still the same as 3g is high drain on the battery ( changing the reception to 2.5g makes the times a little better though)
