General Comments

On opening the box and starting to get the pieces out, I was pleased with the quality of the Acoustic Energy Aego M computer speakers, and they looked very well finished.

I then got the cables out and found a couple of extra ones which I wasn't sure about, so I looked for the manual, and I found it very basic. I had to use my grey matter to decide that these cables were superfluous to my needs, and were for someone requiring an external bass feed.

I got everything plugged in and switched on; connected to my computer (PC), and loaded up iTunes to test that they were working. What happened next was a total shock to me... These speakers were making my MP3 music sound near to Hi-Fi. I had achieved results slightly better than this by hooking up to my Hi-Fi system, which is not convenient to do, but this blew me away by how close it was, and at a fraction of the cost or inconvenience.

I immediately turned off my graphic equaliser settings (required for previous speakers), and I started really enjoying my music in its very convenient PC form for the first time.

These are close to perfection for the job, and at a price that is quite staggering.

I am not sure if it is something to do with the fact that I have them sitting on a glass table, but I did find the upper ranges to be slightly more pronounced than the mid range. This may be due to my graphic equaliser settings previously affecting my expectations, as when I listen to the individual sounds they have great clarity.

I have the bass settings set to minimum out of respect for my neighbours. Sounds are very clear from very low volume settings, which is unusual in my experience; so you can enjoy listening to music without being too intrusive on others.
