Good Points

It has some nice extras such as a static clock display when idle. You can assign ring tones to individuals. The prepaid $remaining tracker is a great idea. Unfortunately for me my provider doesn't support it. The keypad is really user friendly and very responsive.

Bad Points

One number per name!!!!??? Come on! Everyone has at least two and for the user who uses this as a basic business phone this is a large omission.
Big problem with Phone and Sim memory! You can lose contacts! You can choose to view Sim or Phone memory (it doesn't say you can view both together). But in reality it will display both. What is really bad though is that you may have selected to use Sim memory after saving your contacts to the phone and If you delete contacts from your Sim card thinking they are safely stored on your phone think again... it deletes from both places! And vice versa.. if you delete entries on your phone thinking they are already on your Sim.. you will have a nasty surprise. Also its only in Display Name only and Name list mode that it gives you a visual representation of whether the number is on your sim or your phone memory.

Also, because it doesn't support multiple entries in phone memory.. if you put a sim card into your 1600 from another Nokia phone it will not see those numbers.
Now having said all that ... it may be that I have just bought a lemon with faulty memory as I have never known Nokia to have only one number space available on its inbuilt memory. But from what I have read in other reviews regarding number allocation It seems as though this is either a design flaw or a firmware bug.

Deviated from standard pop-port! This means a microphone headset won't work with it.

General Comments

Well... I think if they sorted out the memory issue the Nokia 1600 is a fantastic mobile phone for the money. But the things I mentioned as the bad points in my mind is Core functionality! I.E... even a basic phone needs to store the data well and reliably. So this will effect the over all rating I would give this phone.

Its a wee bit cutesy but this is a very customisable phone .. you can turn the cutesy stuff off! Good one.
