As Martin stated, this unit is relatively easy to use however nowadays most units are because we have become accustomed to remotes - setup wizards - component jargon.
This unit has not caught up with the latest technology of our HDTV w/ 5.1 Format. Which is probably the very reason Martin & Others are buying these babies.
The Sony DVD Recorder RDR-HX510 is unable to receive 5.1 Surround Sound Inputs
Not 1080i capable only 480i
Produces Simulated Surround Sound w/ Progressive Scan... nice but
* Point: If you think you can record HD w/5.1 to your TiVo - DVR - or straight into the DVD-R and get the same or similar quality - forget about it
Better wait another year.
