Good Points

My one and only first mobile phone, and it is still going strong today

Bad Points

O2 have today said they will turn off on 31/05/2006 - I'm devastated!

General Comments

I can't remember how long I have had my Philips C12 mobile phone. I use my free best friend units every month. It's been a god send.

Today, when I was trying to add credit, I was told it will be switched off. It is going to cost me £55 for a new phone from O2 (they say I will still get my free best friend), but I am not a happy bunny with O2!!! I love my little phone. I have dropped it countless times, sat on it, and generally beaten it up, and it's never given me a single problem.

Is there any one else out there unhappy about this?

I totally agree with this review. I've been told the same by O2. I'm going to complain like hell and threaten legal action if they don't supply a free or at least half price phone. If they still won't play ball I'll take my business elsewhere!!

O2 are supposed to be giving out new sim cards so the phone will work after 30th June but you must contact then. Read this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/5017786.stm.

I am devastated - not only are O2 doing away with the low-charge service, they are making the receiver (the phone) obsolete too. I shall now be making my patronage obsolete by switching to a different service provider - but shall mourn the loss of my dependable old friend the C12 - which I have had since 1999 and had never given me any problems.

i have had the same problem and i think it is disgusting the way that o2 has treated their customers. i got a text saying my phone was being turned off on the 30th of June, but it had been turned off on the 14th of june. i got told that if i wanted a new mobile phone it would have cost £30 pounds. tried to phone o2 today (14 June 2006), got through and was told that the other person had hung up. Not a very happy person.
