Italian Styling, out performs more prestigeous cars, and still retains 33mpg combined
Air Flow Meter can go faulty
As with all turbo cars, the turbo needs replacing around 60k
I bought my 2001 Astra Coupe Turbo back in January 2004 from Network Q with 40,000 on the clock. I turned down the Civic Type R because of high insurance and much less toys.
The best thing about this car is, it's stunning to look at, and even standard, the performance is outstanding. 0 - 60 takes just 6.8 seconds, and will keep on going until 153mph. The car easily sees off more prestigious cars, such as the BMW 330.
The amount of features is great too, such as electric everything, a/c and even cruise control.
The car has now done 60,000 miles and still runs sweet as a nut. The only trouble I had was a faulty Air flow meter, and a new turbo needed fitting at 55k , but what turbo car dosn't? All this was covered under warranty.
Overall the car is a great car to drive, even for a front wheel drive car, and can out accelerate most things on the road. Also the boot is massive, and mpg is good at 33mpg combined.
Performance upgrades are available too, with exhaust and filter modifications and a remap, expect to see 245+ bhp which is enough to see off the new vxr.
