Good Points

First adjustable heel cushioning offered in a running shoe. Future of running shoes today.

Bad Points

Quite expensive, not everyones style, only adjusts when running.Dont run through puddles.

General Comments

I was one of the first people in Canada to have the Adidas 1 shoes as a pre-run of about 99 pairs arrived.First of all they are expensive at $405.00 Canadian tax in they are the most expensive runner on the market. But on the other side my Nike TL2 carried a price of $263.35 Canadian tax in. So I paid $142.00 more for a shoe with a motor and computer chip, not so bad after all.Now how it works. A small battery powered motor located in the center of the sole spins a cable at up to 6000rpm that passes through the heel. This cable attaches to two steel plates in the heel that close and open (close/firm,open/soft) that adjust the heel based on impact force. As you run, your heel strikes the surface and tells the computer to firm up or soften .You can also manually adjust via buttons located on the side.Yes it actually works but to a point. The system shuts down if you are not running after 10 minutes. It would be nice to adjust as you walk. Battery life concerns I guess. I do not recomend running in the rain especially through puddles as water could enter the electronics. The shoe is a little heavy, so makes a good trainer but come race day slip into a lite race shoe. All is not bad though as the shoe does adapt to surface changes as promised and does offer cushioning advantages. Just remember this is the first of this shoe. It will lower in price, operate more efficently, and offer more features such as interface to your home computer and tell you distance, average speed etc. To have this technology available to me is a big plus for Adidas. Anyone can pour rubber into different molds and call it revolutionary. Adidas offers the consumer something different, yes at a cost but remember you have the future, today.
