I strongly disagree that David Moody's Autumn series (of which Autumn: The City is the second part of) is aimed or ideal for readers between the ages of 9-16 years. The work deals heavily with the desperate and complex emotions of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world. The characterization is both harrowing and involved, so that I believe an audience of such a young age would not be able to truly get a grasp of. The plot is that of a genre that will indeed appeal to someone of such an age, but I would suggest that David Moody's work pushes the boundaries further with his powerful series of books. Like Stephen King's 'The Stand', the novel can be enjoyed by a teenage audience, but is often appreciated further by a more mature reader. I would say that David Moody's Autumn series can definitely be enjoyed by a such teenage age range, but an adult should certainly not be put off by this, as with many other such authors (Len Barnhart, James Herbert, Mark Morris, Clive Barker etc). The books take on more of a thought provoking angle than a simple B-Movie horror plot, that a younger reader may find the loss of action and 'blood & guts' a little too slow for their tastes. But then that's my opinion anyway!!!!
