*Convenient location for London
*Access by public transport - but there are problems as the tube service has now started to use a bus service to terminal 4.
*Very Busy especially Terminal 3.
*The whole airport seems to be a continual building site
*Cost of Parking
*Design and layout
Heathrow is well located for London travellers but it is old and dated.
Terminal 3 is my vision of hell on earth. No matter what day or time that you go it is packed. The queues are huge. There are simply too many people using this terminal and I suspect that BAA know this. In addition there is always constant building work going on throughout the airport but especially in Terminal 3 which despite any refurbishment still looks tatty, dirty and dated.
The company that runs the car parking facilities must be making obscene profits. The charges are higher than most car parks in central London and because you have to use the car park, you have a captive market so thay can charge what they like in the knowledge that people will have to pay up.
Finally, the prices in the shops are much higher than central London. I paid over £6 for two simple coffees in Aug 2005. Again they can charge what they like because they have a captive market.
Having said this Heathrow will always be popular because of it's location.
