Good Points

The VR4 is fast. It handles like a fighter jet and is great in the rain/wet and snow for people looking for a sports car who live in cold climates (like me). It also turns head and is solidly built unlike today's plastic cars.

Bad Points

They stopped making them. Parts are expensive and mechanics/tire places that really know how to work on them are hard to find.

General Comments

The Mitsubishi VR4 is a site to behold. Merging on the highway is like when they hit lightspeed in Star Wars. I have a black 1997 5 Speed that I bought with 62K miles on it and love it. The car has a luxurious interior yet can beat nearly all gear-head cars without modification (they just sit and spin as you silently grab the road and go). These cars are solidly built and have good quality paint. They are made of mostly metal not plastic (which unfortunately makes them heavy 3800 pounds). The weight and the all wheel drive certainly helps if you are driving in wet/snow though. They are also surprisingly good on gas (thanks to the tall gears). 6 gear is nice for conserving gas as there isn't enough road in my state to wind it out. Mitusbishi tries to rape you on parts though. Fortunately I've never had to replace anything major on mine (I also had an SL for few years and nothing ever went mechanically wrong here either). The spoiler does block the rear view a lot but hey, I can deal

My guess is that the people who have a lot of mechanical problems with these cars are beating on them too often. They are very reliable.
