When I first opened my Crosman Remington Genesis 1000 I was pleasantly satisfied to find everything intact and no shipping damages. Pyramyd Air double bubble wrapped my 4 tins of RWS Superdomes. When I opened the rifle box to my delight the rifle was neatly zipped up in the soft case.
When I picked the gun up it threw me for another loop. From looking at the pictures on the web you might expect the gun to be cheapy or light weight. However when picking this rifle up you can feel the weight and stable platform. The stock might look like low-priced plastic but is in fact very good synthetic plastic that is strong and durable, which is evident to the touch. On the forearm and around the pistol grip is a terrific feeling rubber that aids in gripping the rifle. And of course the stock just looks downright sexy. The barrel was a tad longer than I expected but it doesn't bother me, just something I noticed. Another thing I noticed is on the forearm near the trigger guard, the stock is flat. If you've ever shot springers then you know you use a loose hold as the guns are hold sensitive. The flat part is very comfortable resting in your hand and is at the perfect position, making it wonderful for both a loose and consistent hold. Overall I was very impressed with the handling and fit of the Genesis.
I can't say too much right now about the shooting performance, as I've only run a dozen or so pellets through it. This is mostly because it was at night when I got the gun. The RWS Superdomes fit snugly in the breech. The trigger is predictable and adjustable. But for plinking it's just right. It had a long travel but broke cleanly. I do like the trigger unit but it could use a little improvement. Firing it was great, it was powerful and fast. However the noise is a bit loud. Mostly from the internal organs of the rifle going to work. But I figure this will settle down after use.
Later that night I slapped the scope on and did the lock-tite maneuver (lock-tite is a spring shooters best friend.) I did notice while I was thread locking everything that the stock screws has already been locked unlike many guns I've seen. I was rather surprised at the quality of the scope that came with the gun. First off to my utter joy, the scope was already set in the 1-piece mount, perfectly straight and level. Another goody to the mount was that it had a built in scope stop which fit perfectly into the stop hole on the rifle's receiver. The scope was wonderful. It is a 3-9X40 with target turrets and an adjustable objective. It also has a mil-dot reticule. The scope is very clear; however I would say the mil-dots are hard to see.
I am very happy with this rifle so far. Everything fit my frame perfectly. I can just whip the rifle to my shoulder and be on target. All the things are extremely comfortable. I will do an update later on the performance and velocities. Great job Crosman.

OK Well I went ahead and did the velocity tests today. It was a pain in the rear as my chrony kept reading error. Then I realized stupidly that it was in the shade LOL! Here ya go:

Great review! After reading yours and a few of the other reviews, i'm thinking of getting one for myself. Got a qn here. How loud is it when you fire it after it's broken in?

  2. Troyboy Rank: Corporal on 21st Apr 2006

What do you mean noisy like PAKOWAWAWOW or simply louder then another gun?

  3. Humble Rank: Sergeant on 26th Apr 2006

It's not really that loud. All you hear is the guts of the guns working. The thing with spring piston rifles is that there is not much muzzle noise but rather the inner workings of the gun move around a lot and make noise. Hard to describe the noise level....ummmm perhaps the loudness of just chucking the rifle on the ground :). Best of luck everyday I'm enjoying this rifle more. JSBs are smoking outta this thing. I whacked a pigeon at over 45 yards the other day. :P Regards Derek

dude I\'m lost I need a gun and I\'ve only got 2 choices (that I know of) The Remington Genesis 1000x and the Remington Summit. I\'m looking for power and accuracy ( 1000fps and dead accurate +scope). Which gun should I take? Is there another?

  5. Fordtruckman05 Rank: Lance Corporal on 25th May 2006

    is the rear sight plastic?

You have plenty of choices of airguns to get. A recommended website is pyramydair.com. From their you can see the hundreds of choices that are open to you. Though my advise is that don't get a gun just because it looks cool. Many of the gorgeous looking airguns are not great. The Remington Genesis is a great litte rifle and I don't regret buying it, however...If I had to choose all over again I would probably go with a RWS 94 .177 caliber. I already have a RWS 94 .22 caliber and its my pride and joy, just take a look at a few of these pics

That last picture is of my Remington. If I knew more of what you were looking for and your price range I could help you out more efficently

And to the last commenter, yes the rear sights are plastic, however I removed mine.

Thanx man....the gun you have is quite something I think i'll make more research and get a wide choice of guns than eliminate gradually to get the best one....
PS : I'm not really in for the looks .... I want to snipe and never miss, so i need a precise and strong gun
i don't know about the price range..... if it exceeds 3000$ i think it's a no...
    Thanx for your answer
    With regards, Troyboy
    MERRY CHRISTMAS

Well what are you going to do with the air rifle> Hunting, plinking, target shooting, pest control...Because you really need to consider you caliber options. There is .177, .20, and .22. Each have their advantages. The .177 is shoots faster and flatter, but it doesn't have as much knockdown; it's mostly used for target shooting. The .22 has fantastic knock down power, and it is regarded as the best hunting caliber. It's my favorite caliber. The .20 is a compromise between the two. However, it's generally that the guns are expensive and they don't make many different pellets. You need to decide what you'll be doing with your airgun. It could be a combo of them all like me. I plink, hunt, pest control, and occasionally do a later paper punching with my .177 and .22 caliber airguns. Did you say your price range was $3000 or $300? Because on your post it said 3k. If you can spend 3k, we can get you a REALLY nice gun. However, I think you meant $300. In this case, you can still get something really nice. But decide what you'd like to use the gun for and get back to me. You can leave a message on the ReviewCentre forums too.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

You too have a Merry Christmas

To Humble, my best ReviewCenter buddy.
I plan on using the gun for : shooting down those ugly, sly-looking, wire-eating squirrels...some birds... Hitting about anything for target practice (logs, paper, coke cans etc). So it's basically only sniping (I'm only good at that).

The price range is from $0 to $350, but I could go to $400$.

For the calibers...I think the .22 would be the best for my "needs" (or more likely "wants"). That's why I'm only looking for 1000fps + scope, spring guns...
    I'm difficult lol.

    Thanx for your replies.

    Troyboy

    Happy Holidays mate.

Well I'll tell you bro there aren't alot of airguns out there that shoot 1000fps in .22 caliber. Except PCP (pre-charged pneumatics) which basically put is like C02 but instead of carbon dioxide PCP uses air which can be compressed to much higher pressure therefore yielding awesome power. However PCP air rifles are expensive to get into and it requires alot of gear. I'm just now about to get my first one, which I'll show you when I receieve the rifle. I would recommend that for the time being you purchase a springer rifle like the Remington Genesis or RWS 94 etc.... Alot of .177 calibers can shoot the elusive 1000fps, however you don't get the knockdown as a .22. The .22 caliber is great for damn near anything...Plinking is a blast as the targets take huge hits...coke cans go flying, spinner targets zing around and with good shot placement squirrels drop out of trees like a sack of lead. One thing that needs to be acknowledged is that in all of airgunning accuracy is perhaps the most important thing. Even olympic shooters use air rifles that don't shoot above 600fps. In airgun hunting, shot placement is everything....Escpecially with tough critters like squirrels. I've shot squirrels and rabbits with an ol Crosman .22 caliber pump up gun that only shoot 550 fps and I anchored them on the spot every time as long as I kept my shots where they needed to go...and knew my limits on distance. My RWS 94 .22 shoots upwards of 750 fps and puts down 17-18 foot pounds of energy. This is ALOT of energy. I would reccomend the RWS 94 .22 caliber or a RWS 34 .22 caliber. Here is an excellent site to check out airguns
    http://www.pyramydair.com/
You can look at spring guns to PCP they've got it all. However I don't think the carry the RWS 94...I think they stopped making it in .22 caliber but I'll check around for you and see what I can dig up. Beeman is also another great company...but don't buy the Beeman rifles at Walmart as you can get better stuff for your money. One of the best things that Beeman makes in your category of needs is the Beeman R9. I've never owned one but I've shot a few and MAN are they accurate. I was popping ballons at 140 yds with one. However you should keep your hunting distances to about 40yds for now until you get real comfortable with an airgun. Even then you shouldn't stretch your distance past 60yds as the pellet loses energy and might injure an animal. My longest shot was with my RWS 94 at 50yds I picked a starling off a fence open sights! My longest shot with the Remington Genesis was 45yds where I sniped a pigeon out of a pecan tree. You can do amazing things with airguns, but it takes patience, and practice practice practice....and after that practice some more.

Ok well I just checked for you and the place I got my RWS 94 .22 cal doesn't carry them anymore. You might be able to pick up a used one however you're going to be hard pressed to find one...they're good guns I would never sell mine. Why don't you take alook around that site I listed and see what you like....I'll post a few links for you that will help immensly.

www.yellowforum.com (Message board about airguns, most popular one ever, very helpful guys there)
www.straightshooters.com (These guys are awesome, check them out...great service)
www.natchezss.com (Good place to get scopes for cheap...I shop there alot)
www.airgunsofarizona.com (Pretty good guys, I've never shopped there but other folks say they're good)

Straight shooters is your best bet for information. They have great info about why airguns work, pellet selection, scope selection, scope mounting selection. When looking for an airgun...medium power is what you want to look for. AHHHHH so much information to pass along an so little time. I gotta get runnin bro, take it easy and have a good Christmas. I hope I helped a little.
