Excellent comfort/ loads of space/ quiet drive/good sound system and climate control. Excellent long distance and motorway cruiser.
Auto box is not the sharpest is sometimes jerky particularly when cold and has needed software updates to remedy sticking in 3rd ? Gear after dashboard warning came on. Manual override works well. So far the only rattle has developed in passenger front door which is very irritating in such an otherwise quiet car. Steering is too vague and handling too remote for truly enjoyable country lane driving. No rear window wiper on this model. I find the performance sluggish after my previous car previous a Xsara 1.8 manual.
The Citroen C5 is the exclusive version and with discount is great value for money. Fuel economy is OK on motorways averaging 37/38 mpg. But on local trips or slow roads it drops considerably as auto box rarely gets into top--perhaps diesel is torquier and better in these circumstances. Car is used for towing a caravan which it does effortlessly but with a considerable increase in fuel consumption (mid 20s). With a 2 year interval servicing costs are not yet known and so far only outlay has been for oil top up(1/2 to 1 litre after 10000miles). Front tyres look good for 20000 miles or so.
This is my 4th Citroen all of which have had minor faults (mainly sensors)--so far the C 5 is no better or worse than the others but with all its gadgets the potential is there. Mileage so far is 13000.
