General Comments

I was not convinced when my travel agent said that Royal Brunei was a good airline. My son and I had wanted a return flight from Heathrow to Bangkok but Royal Brunei was the only airline that had seats available on the day we wanted to travel and return.

Check-in at Heathrow was fine but I was surprised at how small the plane was and wondered whether it was intended to be used for longhaul travel. Legroom was very poor. As we approached the runway for takeoff the captain asked passengers to say their prayers and he put on the TV monitors a long Islamic prayer with scenes of Mecca. I have to say I was worried by this but they do this everytime they take off and land and anytime they hit turbulance. This is very worrying and doesn't inspire confidence in the captain to deal with an emergency.

Our first stop was Abu Dhabi and we had to wait around the airport for 3 hours while the plane was refuelled and cleaned. Then we flew onto Brunei. Our connecting flight was 4 hours late so in total we were in the Terminal for 6 hours. Let me tell you that there is not a lot to do in Brunei airport and we were bored.
We arrived in Bangkok quite late as a result of the delay. On all the flights they only had chicken meals as there was no other choice, so I had grown really fed up of chicken by the time we reached Bangkok.

The return flight was an absoloute disaster. They checked us in at Bangkok for our flight to Brunei. Unfortunatly they had technical problems and the flight was 13 hours late. As a result we missed our connecting flight from Brunei to Abu Dhabi. We waited at Bangkok for 13 hours and then had to wait in Brunei for 22 hours in a terrible hotel. My son and I were very very bored but there was little we could do. We eventually arrived back in London just over 55 hours late. No apology and no compensation.

Would I fly with Royal Brunei again - Never.
