General Comments

I was given the RoadCom 300 for my Christmas present. Bought from Woolies for £200 (down from £250). We chose the RoadCom because it offered features only found on more expensive models, and it had favourable performance reviews.

I was using it within a few minutes of opening the box - very simple to plot a route.
Also supports MP3 and photo storage facility, although I have no interest in this feature, it can do it.

Worked great on 2 heated windscreen cars (02 and "S" registered Mondeo), and can track up to 20 satellites simultaneously - it is a high performance antennae, and an external one can be fitted in case you cannot mount in windscreen (obstruction like roof).

It offers standard navigation features such as back on route if you take a wrong turn, can be set to night / day mode, automatically zooms in and out depending on speed which is really useful when changing from motorway to town centres. You get an accurate speed on the screen as well as ETA and mileage. Supports multi-destination routes (stop-over) and adding your own points of interest. It is already loaded with useful local information (train / bus / airports, garage, PO, restaurants, etc). Also, navigation options can be set to take into account whether you want to avoid tolls, ferry, motorway, shortest / fastest journey. It also has a fast and slow car feature which is great as I also use it in my old 4x4 for mapping green lanes, so will give me the shorter more direct route when required.

All in all, I am very impressed with the RoadCom. It is certainly up to the job, and does better than some more expensive models from more established manufacturers out there. It offers excellent value for money without sacrificing performance. Would recommend to a friend or family.

Roadcom do not have their own website, but the instructions refer you to a website which supplies the mapping software:- https://www.mpresso.com/gate5/en/index.php?ssl=true
