Good Points

Cheap price
Good in 5.6mm barrels
Hard flat back making them ideal for fac rifles
Well made

Bad Points

Awful in 5.5mm barrels!
Look as though they have been made very quickly

General Comments

Well I got some of the Eley Wasp for a change just to see what they were like, my mate used some in his BSA Meteor and seemed to do well

However what I didn't know was his BSA Meteor was 5.6mm where as my Webley and Scott Singray was 5.5mm (oh dear) and they took some pressing to get in! But eventually they did and they performed reasonably well 1/2 inch at 30 yards but Lazadomes are loads better

Apart from them not fitting well in 5.5mm barrels they are alright but I don't intend on going back to them anytime soon...

BomBom.......you say that they're well made, and also that they look as if they were made very quickly which would imply they were somewhat less than desirable.
The last tin of Wasps (5.5mm) I bought about two years ago looked as if they were cast in a clay mould in someone's shed. I didn't return them as they were cheap enough and as I had a new springer at the time, I used them for running it in.

I subsequently learned that Eley were going through a bit of an upheaval due to a takeover or something and that things would get better. Any info on this BomBom?

well the internet is a good place to spread nasty rumors so, whoever you heard that off, you'd better give them a slap cross the hand, cos theres no info on a takeover or anything like that.

BomBom....I wrote that I "learned", not "heard" - and from somewhere on Review Centre, who, along with yours truly, will be eternally grateful to you for scotching such a nasty rumour. And I certainly will NOT slap, leave alone bite the hand that feeds me! Anyway, what's a lettuce got to do with it?

I used to use ely wasps in 5.5 mm in my BSA lightning they performed very well not quite as good as accupell but for hunting they were fine out to 40-45 yards.
