General Comments
Having been given the Grado SR 125 headphones for Christmas in 2004; I've been using them for the past year or so, and I have to say they are very, very, good. The sound is crystal clear, it's a revelation to me, as my previous 'phones were Technics RP-HT300's, and not particularly good (but they were cheap!). The Grado's are a lot more open and detailed, vocals especially are excellent. However, I do feel that the bass could go slightly lower (maybe it's because my speakers are B&W DM602 S3's, and I'm used to a fairly chunky wall of bass! ;-)
Sadly, they're not particularly good at keeping out ambient noise. I find that 'Tool' or 'Dream Theater' are often having to compete with 'What not to wear', that my wife insists on watching (hence me turning to the stereo, and the headphones). They're better at night with no external noise influence!
The short cable is a pain, but Grado can sell you an extension. And there's no 3.5mm connection, for those wanting to use them with portable players, but it's never bothered me. Again, I believe that Grado do a 6.4 to 3.5mm adapter. (check out www.stoneaudio.co.uk for Grado 'phones and accessories). Comfort has never been an issue, and I actually like the retro design, but even if they looked horrible, I wouldn't care. It's all about the music to me...
