Won't take blank discs

General Comments

Here's a solution to the blank disc problem of the Sony RDR GX3 DVD recorder:

It seems to me that I'm not the only one who had trouble with this player.

It won't accept any new, unformatted, or PC formatted discs. So far I can still use discs formatted by the unit itself.

The solution that works for me (however troublesome) is...
Copy an earlier used disc (never mind the content) on the PC, using Nero or other DVD copy software.
Insert the disc into the Sony GX3 DVD recorder, and erase the previous content. You now have a blank, working disc.

I have found this to work if both media are Philips DVD+RW/4x.

Well I have been having similar problems with the GX3. I have tried many CD and DVD writers on my computer, and not yet found one that will play in the GX3. I have tried different formats, finalising and not.
    Any more tips please?

    No, Im sorry.
Seems to me the only solution was to have the player repaired at a shop.
Got it done on warranty, but cost the same as the price one could buy a 2 hand player at. Unfortunately.
