Graphics, realism, and the gameplay
Overly difficult, non-branded
After Pro Evolution Soccer 4 I thought Pro Evolution Soccer 5 was going to be the best football game of all time, but I had mixed reactions on playing it.
I was hoping to have full branding this time, but I was disappointed to find that it's only Arsenal and Chelsea in England - maybe a bit misleading. The flip side however, is that the edit option is superb and a great improvement from PES4, so I have spent a little time customising my game, and I am more than happy.
It's certainly slicker than PES4; it looks the part and moves fluidly. I'd like it to be a bit quicker, and I accept that the added realism means that I'm probably never going to win anything with Blackburn, as none of the players are good enough to control the ball regularly. At times I have found it difficult, which I must admit has made me lose interest; previous incarnations of PES have been a bit more tantalising and have left me wanting more, but the variety and realism is wholly satisfying in PES5 for a real football fan.
