Quick.
Better Looking.
Heavier.
I'd dread to think how doddery the 1.2 engine is.
I've been a loyal Renault Clio driver for some time now so the New Renault Clio 1.6 Dynamique was always looking like a sure-fire bet when I decided to upgrade. Despite some serious flirtation with the New Honda Civic, I listened to my bank manager and got myself a piece of the new Clio action.
I have made the jump from a 1.2i engine to the 1.6 Dynamique and it's been a jolly good choice. The power of 1.6 compared to the old model is astounding - I feel like I'm literally flying when I get behind the wheel of this thing. I can only imagine what the 2.0 litre Clio's drive like. The 1.2i engine could previously be accused of being a bit sluggish, not so with the 1.6 Dynamique and if you are seriously contemplating a new Clio then this is the engine size you want to go for.
More good news is that the cars design is better than it's older brother. From the outside it is a much more attractive vehicle. On the inside the interior looks a million times better thanks to the faux-leather look that the French have adopted for this car. The improvement in design has meant that the car is a lot heavier than the older model - therefore making the 1.6 engine an absolute essential.
I do a lot of A-road driving and this car was born for the A-roads, it's quick and fluent and above all a really enjoyable driving experience. The faster you go, the better it gets and I think that epitomises this car.
If your in the market for a car of this size then I believe this little tyke is worth your consideration.
