Driving a Honda just got cool!
Not sure the typical Civic driver will go for the new model.
Test drove the brand new Honda Civic 1.8 the other day and I have to say it blew me away completely. Before the test drive I knew that there was no way I could afford this car - after driving it I would have robbed my granny to buy this thing but sadly it wasn't to be!
First off, I'm no car expert and only had a 20 minute test drive to base this review off so there are factors like wear and tear, economics of the car, upkeep and after sales that I won't be able to comment on. What I can talk about is a test drive that knocked my socks off and the features of this machine.
This car is undoubtedly sex on 4 wheels. To look at it is visually stunning and I'm not sure the picture on this site does it justice. Honda have taken the design of the old civic, ripped it to shreds and designed a car that is a real head turner. To say these guys think 'outside the box' is an understatement. The car is sleek and the version I drove was metallic black & grey. The in-car features must also be at the top end of the range for a car of this price - I have personally never seen anything like it. I kid you not when I say that the drivers area looks more like a fighter jet cockpit than a coupe.
The car itself can really go, with the only downside being that the engine makes one hell of a racket - some people actually like that though! When you get on a good A-road this car just cruises easily. I didn't do any city centre type driving on the test, however I asked about it and the dealer admitted that this isn't a perfect city car - mainly due to short gearing.
The new Civic is definitely different, and if you want to stand out from the crowd then this is a car you will be considering. Unfortunately I didn't have the finances to make the purchase (settled for a new Clio) but if I had the money then I'd be flying round in a new Civic by now. Brilliantly imaginative car.
