Coral Sea Resort Review

Good Points
Sevice, friendly staff, very clean, well maintained, good food, great location, access to sea and snorkling excellent.

Bad Points
Entertainment was awful, food was a little bland, beach is not fine sand but more coarse sand. Some local brand drinks - notably the white wine and the vodka were questionable. Also the mixers were flat - Cola, Lemonade etc..., only 1 main restaurant, the Al a Carte restaurant is awful - bad service, bad food and ignorant Management, luckily you only get to eat there once a week. Pool is not heated and was basically freezing - this is not an overstatement. Sea was much warmer

General Comments
Coral Sea Resort itself looks great and is in a great location. The entrance is impressive and away from the main road. Reception were helpful but the First Choice Reps are terrible. No guidance from them at all - your luggage is taken away and taken to your rooms - you have no need to worry about it although in the present climate is it wise to allow your luggage out of your immediate sight? Room was very clean and tidy. Plenty of space. Bathroom was good size. Towels for your loungers are provided. Loungers are plentiful. 2 pools, 1 quiet, the other is more lively with music (which is awful - take CD's for them to play or take your MP3 player). Pool looked great but was freezing. only a handful of people went in during the day (over the New Year period 2005-2006) Snorkling was excelent in the sea. There is a jetty that goes approx 150 metres out and then you can get in and snorkle to your hearts content. Restaurant staff very friendly. Food is good but a little bland. Plenty of choice. Drink is a little questionable. All in all a very nice resort but will need to improve. Getting a Rep team that can actually do its job to some degree would be a big help here. The potential for 5 stars is there, it just needs the little touches that the major players provide.
