General Comments

CIS car insurance aware of a claim on the 3rd of December 2005, said they would be in touch. A week later there has been no contact. I got in touch with them to find out why there was a delay, and I was told that there was no record of the claim. I passed all the details to the Manchester office, including home and mobile numbers for contact. No contact over next 10 days. Phoned again to see if an assessor had been to see the vehicle and I was told no, but someone would go over in the next few days and they would contact me.
No contact the following week. I phoned CIS again and was told by the Manchester office that my claim was now being sorted out by the Watford office (I live in West Yorkshire). I phoned the Watford office, and they had never heard of me and knew nothing about a claim.
Christmas (without transport, Thanks CIS...)
January... No contact from anyone involved with CIS.
January 14th - tried 5 different numbers to speak to a human being. No chance, all recorded messages asking me to ring back during office hours. They obviously think no one else works.

Strangely, I made 2 claims within a 3 month period. The first was settled rapidly without any problem, although they wrote the car off. The second time was trickier, as the car was driveable, but the assessor - after 2 false starts - decided it was uneconomic to repair. Shopping around found it to be economic to repair. However, this shouldn't be blamed entirely on the Insurance Company - the "Approved Repairers" I know have jacked their prices up by at least 10% compared to my local garage.

You are right, you are not the only one, I have been with CIS for more than 5 years & this was my second accident, yet my file was sent to their technical team, which was then forwarded to their solicitors who are an absolute nightmare, despite police attending the scene they interrogated me & my wife & yet my vehicle which happens to be a total loss, I haven't been paid out for. Its been 7 months & no payment in my hands. They accused me of lying, not co-operating & threatened me that they would not indemnify me, despite replying to all their queries. I think the Law society needs to look into the way the solicitors have been conducting the file on behalf of Insurers, no doubt they get paid well, so why not take their time& accumulate the bill. I think the POLICE@S attitude with the solicitors also needs to be looked at.
CIS as an Insurance company, beware guys all they're after is your money, try other insurers, you get better service & value for money, my advise to any one is that spend some time, do your home work & then hand out your hard earned money. in my books CIS is a big NO NO.

This is exactly how they have treated me. Run around and this new phone system seems to mean that no one can contact anyone else in the same company! Ludicrous in my opinion.
