Fast aiming, 1/4 in. chunks of lead hit hard, pellets not blown around like smaller calibers, plus all the other good points of any R1.
Short Carbine barrel is harder to cock than full length version but easily within reason.
The Beeman R1 in .25 cal. was only offered as a Carbine and is now discontinued. Beeman's R1 Carbines have a 3.5 in. shorter barrel than there full lenth guns. This reduces the weight nicely and the balance is great. The Carbines are faster to point, lighter, and the velocity actually goes up a bit. Even in the .25 cal. my R1 which is used and I am about the third owner of the gun shoots H&N Field & Target Trophy pellets (aka. Beeman FTS) 20.6 gr. pellets @ 660 fps. =20 fpe. I expect the velocity to go up a bit as I do not think the gun is really even broken in (the 2 previous owners must not have shot this gun but a few times between them) and I intend to lube tune it. The 660fps. is acual chrony #'s taken on a damp 55 degree day. Not what you might call optimal conditions if you are looking to put up high #'s. The gun is very accurate out to 35 yards. Actually I only have the gun about 5 days so I expect things to get even better but 5 pellets inside a 1 in. target dot is pretty easy at 35 yards. The pellets are still slamming into the trap with good force at that range. The gun should be excellent for squirrels, birds, rabbits, and so on easily out to the 40 yard range and probably beyond that. The pellets are huge and easy to handle, dwarfing the .22 by about the same margin as the .22 dwarfs a .177. A wonderful gun in an interesting caliber.
