General Comments

I bought the Marksman 2000 on a whim with a gift card from Walmart. At $15 (no ammo included), I didn't expect much, and that's exactly what I got. After using it a bit, I could only recommend this as a gift for a child or someone looking for an air pistol to shoot exclusively indoors. As an adult with a good amount of shooting experience, I only wanted a target gun that wouldn't scare the neighbors and could hit a target at a respectable distance. I got the former, but, as for the latter, I haven't been able to hit a target at more than 10 or 15 feet. Pellet loading also requires the use of a small plastic tool to seat the pellet past the o-ring in the barrel, which can be a pain for my large fingers. For as little power (200 feet per second) as the gun has, the cocking action, particularly pushing the slide home, is too difficult.

The gun does have its good points, but they didn't begin to outweigh the drawbacks in my opinion. The only really notable positive in its favor is the very low price point -- for $15, it could make an okay gift to introduce a youngster with a passing interest in shooting.
