They provide banking facilities.
Extortionate charges, even when you have enough money in your account.
I had a Royal Bank of Scotland student royalties account for three years between September 1999 and July 2003. One day I sat down and went through my incomplete set of statements for that period, and I totted up £600 in bank charges. I must have been charged even more on the statements that I couldn't find.
