Gives insight into the psychology of the writer, and helps to overcome the many obstacles the writer may encounter.
What I thought would be an inspirational book, I found to be somewhat staid in its interpretation of writing habits. I also found that the book typecast writers into a set mould, and didn't really encourage individuality.
Jerry Cleavers' A Complete Writing Course is mostly based on Fiction writing, and I have to say that I found it to be quite regimental. Despite it's regimental approach, the book does actually inspire confidence in the fact that there are ways to overcome many of the obstacles a writer faces, such as writers block etc...
Aside from the negatives of the book; on the whole, it is actually a very well thought out and extremely helpful book; if you can commit yourself to studying the content, which, in my opinion, was a little tedious at first, but with much perseverance I gained a lot from this writing course.
