Good Points

Now the largest nationwide network, after the purchase of Western Wireless and a few smaller wireless companies.
Has made many improvements on service and the outlook of their stores/reps.


Bad Points

Call center customer service reps are sometimes extremely rude.

General Comments

I have been a customer with the Alltel mobile phone network for quite some time. My suggestion for those who have written negative reviews is to search your local Alltel retail stores for a dependable sales rep, and ONLY do business with them. Alltel reps are actually some of the only reps who can handle billing problems and phone problems without shuffling you to a customer service center's 800 number. Since I have been a customer, they have greatly improved their coverage and services. They have come out with several new phones... phones that are actually dependable, and not just gimmick phones used to lure you into service.

The main thing I like about Alltel is that I can change my plan whenever I want, without being charged or having my contract extended, AND even though there are some small roaming areas, I have service nearly everywhere! Some people state that carriers such as CIngular and T-Mobile have no roaming charges - and this is true - because if you get in an area that they do not have coverage over, your phone doesn't work.

The in-store rep that I deal with is a great help, and is always able to take care of my problems. I would recommend Alltel more than any other carrier. Even though the customer service reps are sometimes mean and hateful, most problems are usually resolved.
