I liked the website
Staff were impolite on phone
Staff waited less than 10 minutes for me before leaving a house to be viewed.
This is my experience with the Halifax Estate Agency (Denton Branch in Manchester) just recently.
I had booked in 2 viewing appointments on the Saturday just gone for properties on the same street, a few doors down from each other.
One appointment was at 11.30am and the other at 11.45am.
I arrived at 11.40am due to the TomTom Sat Nav losing its connection, and having to drive around for a short while before it could regain it. If I had not been driving I would normally have called to inform them I was 10 minutes behind time.
After a bit of knocking on the doors of both vacant properties, I rang the Halifax Denton branch to ask why no one was there.
I am told that the viewing staff had reported me as not turning up and had left already.
Now admittedly I was 10 minutes late for the 11.30am viewing. However, at no point was I called to confirm whether or not I was nearby or on the way (possibly because if I missed my appointment it meant 'home time' for the person involved).
I did also have an appointment with him at 11.45am which I was not late for.
Fortunately the member of staff was willing to drive back, so about 10 minutes later (how long did he wait for me I wonder...) we were able to view the 2 properties.
We were told that we would have to be quick though, as he finished at 12pm.
Fair enough I was 10 minutes late, so ordinarily this would not prompt me to be annoyed.
However, following the long New Year weekend, I realised that I would be late out of work today, so I would probably not get back in time for the 7pm viewing I had that night with them.
Not wanting to repeat the events of the weekend I rang them during my lunch break (1pm) to let them know I wouldn't be able to make it.
The lady on the phone said that she 'noticed' I had missed a couple of viewing appointments on Saturday with them, so obviously the fact that I did go that day was not recorded, and I had been blacklisted(??) in some way.
I told her that I had in fact turned up, but 10 minutes late, to which she replied: 'Oh... so you turned up eventually did you?'
On reflection, I feel that was somewhat sarcastic and uncalled for.
As a consumer I don't expect the sales staff to be super nice to me. Common good manners is another matter entirely.
All in all a somewhat off-putting experience.
